Oly Retires.

Our trusty OLYMPUS - C770 , 4 megapixels, semi-pro digital camera quit on us late September 2009. It has served as well. We bought it late 2005 and it accompanied us through wedding planning, actual wedding, the honeymoon, countless out of towns, photo shoots and even traveled around the world with me in 2007. Ah, but all good things must come to an end.

According to the Olympus service center, the mode selection dial is broken. And getting it fixed will cost us a whopping P4,000.00 one time payment. So, we have decided to just finally retire Oly and scout for a brand new camera.

We've been swooning over Nikon D3000 or D5000... but can't afford it as of now. The decision was to get a low-end, basic camera so we can again document our lives. We were torn between the Sony DSC S930, Olympus FE 26 and the Canon Powershot A480.

After reading the reviews and canvasing prices, we settled for the Canon A480! At P600 something a month, buying this is definitely more "sulit" than getting the Oly fixed. I will miss Oly's ultra zoom (10x optical zoom vs. our new 3.3 zoom!) and semi-SLR features. But beggars can't be choosers.
